A GLOBAL, YET PERSONAL APPROACH

John graduated as Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta in 2005, after completing a critical analysis on public procurement in Malta for his dissertation. He went on to achieve a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute. John was admitted to the Maltese Bar in 2006. On invitation of the US Embassy in Malta, he completed an International Visitor Leadership Programme in the USA, organised by the US Department of State in 2010. His involvement in cross-border family disputes led to him being elected Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers in 2018.

He is member of the Investment Migration Council; the worldwide association of professionals dealing with investment migration. John served as an Adjudicator on Malta’s Small Claims Tribunal and is a former Board Secretary of the Malta Resources Authority and the Lands Authority.

Elian achieved her Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Malta in 2017. A year later, she was awarded a Master of Advocacy (M.Adv.) degree and was admitted to the Maltese Bar in 2019.

Elian spent her fourth year of studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, where she furthered her studies in IT Law, Risk Management and Criminal Procedure.

Her dissertation, which she presented in 2017, focused on the legal accountability of the state towards unaccompanied minor asylum seekers.

Marycien graduated as Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta in 2015, having completed a dissertation that proposed amendments to the Condominium Act in Malta. She was admitted to the Maltese Bar in 2016 and serves as Board Secretary to the national Geoparks Commission, which sees to the safeguarding of sites and landscapes of national and geological significance.

Jean Pierre is a legal procurator who graduated from the University of Malta in 1992. His dissertation focused on the protection of the marine environment in Maltese territorial waters. Jean Pierre holds a Diploma in Canon Law, with a particular focus on marriage. His interest in social matters and theatrical representations is expressed by means of his active role within one of the Maltese islands’ most renowned voluntary organizations. In fact, he is a founding member of Dr. Klown, an entity composed of professionals who aim to make hospitals less ominous and confusing for young patients.

Ruth is widely experienced in office administration. In fact, she ran a private business for a number of years before joining the team at 8Point Law. Ruth’s role is vital in coordinating the firm’s activities and operations, therefore acquiring efficiency.
